ancient Persian word “pashm” which means wool. Nepal is one of, if not
the, prime exporter of pashmina products all over the world. In fact,
the pashmina itself is a native and indigenous product of Nepal.
Cultivated from a rare breed of goats found only at 12,000 to around
14,500 feet above sea level in the Himalayan regions of Tibet, Nepal and
Central Asia, most notably Mongolia, the pashmina is considered the
best cashmere on earth. The goats from where the pashmina comes are
called the “capra hircus.” In order for these goats to protect
themselves from the harsh temperate climate, the goats have developed
short, thin and shiny inner coats on their underbelly over time. These
short inner hairs have proven to be the best natural insulation in the
world. When these goats shed their hair during spring, these are
collected to form the pashmina. In fact, the Persian word for wool
refers precisely to the inner coat of the “capra hircus.”We have tried
our best to match the pashmina shawl colors in the product photos.
However, we cannot guarantee the accuracy of the colors as they appear
on your computer monitor. Please be aware of this when you select
colors.
Tibetan Buddhist Prayer Flags are colorful panels or rectangular cloths often found strung along mountain ridges and peaks high in the Himalayas to bless the surrounding countryside or for other purposes. Unknown in other branches of Buddhism, prayer flags are believed to have originated with Bön, which predated Buddhism in Tibet.Traditionally they are woodblock-printed with texts and images.Prayer flags are inscribed with auspicious symbols, invocations, prayers, and mantras. Tibetan Buddhists for centuries have planted these flags outside their homes and places of spiritual practice for the wind to carry the beneficent vibrations across the countryside. Prayer flags are said to bring happiness, long life and prosperity to the flag planter and those in the vicinity. Dharma prints bear traditional Buddhist symbols, protectors and enlightened beings. As the Buddhist spiritual approach is non theistic, the elements of Tantric iconography do not stand for external beings, but represent aspects of enlightened mind i.e. compassion, perfect action, fearlessness, etc. Displayed with respect, Dharma prints impart a feeling of harmony and bring to mind the precious teachings. All flags from Radiant Heart are hand printed on good quality 100% cotton fabric with nontoxic colorfast textile paints. The details in each design are quite precise and the colors are pure and bright. Tibetan prayer flags may be placed either inside of a building to increase the spiritual atmosphere or outdoors where the wind can carry their prayers. Traditionally, they are fastened to eaves or sewn onto ropes to be displayed horizontally or they are fastened to wooden poles for vertical display. Sets of five color flags should be put in the order: yellow, green, red, white, blue (from left to right or from bottom to top.) The colors represent the elements: earth, water, fire, cloud, sky. Because the symbols and mantras on these prints are sacred, we ask that they be treated with the traditional Tibetan respect - please do not place them on the ground or use them in articles of clothing. When disposing of an old print please burn it.
